After all these years, it’s pretty incredible that a bunch of gibberish-speaking, banana-loving yellow creatures are still finding new ways to cause chaos on the big screen. There’s no denying the creativity behind this franchise. The animation is as vibrant as ever, the energy never lets up, and every frame is packed with the kind of visual humor that’s become a Minions trademark.
But maybe that’s also where this installment stumbled for me.
As much as I wanted to love it, this one felt like it was running on familiar fuel. The laughs came, but they didn’t hit quite as hard, and the story never found that extra spark that made the earlier films so effortlessly charming. It wasn’t bad by any means—it just felt like it was missing that little bit of movie magic that had me grinning from ear to ear the first time these lovable troublemakers took over the screen.
Now, if you’re a die-hard Minions fan, don’t let my experience stop you. The lovable chaos, over-the-top antics, and quirky humor are all still here, and I have no doubt true Minions lovers will eat this one up like a fresh bunch of bananas.
For me, though, this adventure was more of a gentle chuckle than a full-on belly laugh. I still walked away appreciating the artistry, the animation, and the incredible amount of imagination that continues to breathe life into these characters. I just wish the story had given me a little more to hold onto after the credits rolled.
Not every Minions adventure can reinvent the wheel, but this one reminded me just how much I miss the unexpected charm and heart that made the earlier films feel so delightfully bananas.
